DAAD Graduate Study Scholarship & Research Grants
The German Academic Exchange Service provides the opportunity to do research or independent study in Germany, or to complete a full Master’s degree program at a German university, in nearly any field.
The Study Scholarship offers a 10-month scholarship to be used for a full master’s degree program at a German university or for study at a German university as part of a postgraduate or master’s degree program completed in the home country. The Research Grant provides funding for students to conduct research for either 1-6 or 7-10 months.
Graduating seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates who have completed their Bachelor’s degrees no longer than six years before the application deadline are welcome to apply. Open to citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada. Foreign nationals are eligible if they have been full-time students at an accredited U.S. or Canadian university for at least two years at the time of application. Applicants in the arts, humanities, and social sciences should have a good command of German. Applicants for independent study are expected to have a well-defined study or research project that makes a stay in Germany essential and should have an invitation from an academic partner at a German university or research institution. WashU endorsement required.
Campus Deadline: October 9, 2026 for those applying for 7-10 month grants. Contact Dean Megan Peabody via email at meganp@wustl.edu by October 1, 2026 with your intent to apply.
