Goldwater Summer Research Internship Program
This initiative expands opportunities for college freshmen and sophomores to participate in cutting-edge research in their fields of interest. Authorized by Congress, the program builds on the Goldwater Foundation’s longstanding commitment to identifying, encouraging, and financially supporting undergraduates who aspire to become the nation’s next generation of research scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.
Goldwater Interns will join collaborative research teams at laboratories across the nation, working alongside senior researchers, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and other undergraduates. Applicants should review Active Projects and select their top two choices. Each intern will receive $10,500 in financial support for the 10-week research experience.
U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident required; first year or sophomore in STEM field. This is an open application (no campus endorsement required).
Applications are due November 2, 2026, and selected applicants will be notified by January 15, 2027.
